Deccan Herald Inter-Collegiate Theatre Fete 2017

College

This year marks yet another landmark for Deccan Herald with the launch of its much-awaited theatre platform for students in colleges. This year the Deccan Herald Theatre Festival provides a new platform - a launch pad - to help college-going students hone their talent, and even showcase it at a professional theatre festival.

Auditions for participating colleges will take place on 11th and 12th November at Rangoli Metro Art Centre, M G Road. Three top contenders from among these college teams will get a chance to perform on 4th December at Alliance Francaise de Bangalore as part of the Deccan Herald Theatre Festival 2017.

Anita Mithra

An Arts Manager based in Bangalore has a plethora of goals which have suddenly begun to look much closer and more achievable than they have in the past! We are truly becoming a global village. Opportunities and avenues to learn and grow have never been in such close proximity for our younger generation as it is in the present time.

As Chief Program Designer for Sublime- Prestige Arts Foundation, I have the unique privilege to work for a short term as well as a year round program for schools.

Besides working with Sublime, I own and run a small arts space that offers both space as well as programming for arts activities for adults and children across the city. Tortilla House has hosted musical theatre and playback theatre workshops, method acting, painting and sculpture and music workshops and sessions for children of varying ages.

The Tortilla Entertainment Company is my 7 year old production company.  We host four performing arts festivals annually for both adults and young adults. Each year we provide a platform for high school and university students to showcase and stretch their creative abilities on stage.  These include mini musicals, short one act plays, one -minute theatre festivals, slam poetry and open mic events. We reach colleges and schools across the city in these endeavors and are able in our small way to enthuse young minds to look at the arts as a viable career path.
